Creepy Crawlies

And what would Halloween be without some CREEPY CRAWLIES to look at?
(Beware! - there will be a spider amongst the pics!)

I miss cicadas...I always loved that buzzing in the trees that they did. One of the things I notice about England is the silence in the grasshopppers buzzing, no cicadas singing...none of that. We have bird noises, but no bug noises...

Wow, that's a helluva spider!

I would miss the insect noises...

Hubby took these pics. He had quite a time getting close enough to the spider for a shot.

I left all of this earlier, but I don't know what happened to it! This has happened more than once lately. Blogger doesn't like me! lol

So, I'll try again.

As icky as that spider looks, she is known as a garden spider, and is quite the web spinner! She can create HUGE beautiful ones!!

Praying Mantis are so cool! Cruel, but beneficial in the insect world, and cool to look at. I like to dangle my finger in front of them moving it slowly back and forth, and watch their heads turn to follow it.

Looks like you have one of those Asian Ladybugs too. .the ones that pinch, darn it. Our own native ladybugs are nearly extinct due to the ones that are imported for people's gardens.

Neat photos of some very small subjects! Thanks so much for sharing them!

Looks like your spider is about ready to have a bunch of babies. :)

But please tell...what are the creatures in the second and third photos?

That second one is scary looking. LOL

The 1st pic is of a baby Praying Mantis

The 2nd pic is of the shell of a cicada

The 3rd pic has several different bugs, one of which is an Asian Ladybug - others are unknown

The 4th is of a Garden Spider (a.k.a. Banana Spider) with a very large egg sac.
