Keeping myself out of trouble
It's been almost 6 months since we moved to our new hometown and the little urban cottage in whence we reside. Time has truly flown by. And grass has not grow under my feet. (giggle Not too hard since it is January!) I am slowly working my way through the mountain of boxes filled with the stuff I had packed up more than two years ago. I am hoping to have tackled the mountain completely by the time Spring arrives. I am so tired of 'stuff' monopolizing my time! And space!
I have been busy in the creative department. I recently took two Snow Faeries to the gift shop in Cripple Creek. One of them insisted on 'riding shotgun' - even though she flew the whole way!
The other Faery was content to sit on her stool and contemplate her sculpture. She is getting ready for the upcoming Cripple Creek Ice Festival. Didn't take her long to find her way to the front window.
My love of trees helped me get another gig. I answered an ad on Craig's List for a Leaf Maker. I made a couple of extremely large leaves - 3 feet across. The leaves were used to make molds for birdbaths and stepping stones.
And a few more irons have been thrown into the proverbial fire. I'll be sure to give you up-dates as the irons heat up.

Upcoming Events & New Venues
October is finally here. The one month out of the year that us Halloween-lovers all look forward to. The month we plan for all year long. The month where bats, and ghosts, and grinning Jacks (short for jack-o-lanterns) adorn all the houses instead of just a few. (WHAT?!? You don't keep your bats and ghosts and grinning Jacks out all year long??)
And with October comes a flurry of activity. So many wonderful festivals and balls and other events to attend. To start the month, I will be a vendor at the Denver Pagan Pride Festival on October 12th in Denver's Civic Center Park.
And my artistic creations can now be found at the Shops at the Silver Mine in Cripple Creek. Shops at the Silver Mine is a charming collective of Colorado artists and craftsmen.
If you're in search of that unique something to add to your collection, stop by Clifton's Curios and Antiques Mall in Colorado Springs. I can vouch to the uniqueness of some of the items - Hubby and I are downsizing and our excess can be found for sale there. Along with some of my folk art.
With all the activity this month, I'm not sure how many road-trips we'll be going on. But I will share our trip to the mountains from last month. And there is one event we're definitely planning on attending - the Coffin Races held in Manitou Springs every October!
So until next time..... Happy Haunting!

Shrooms Under Glass
I have two new items in my Etsy shop. They are both pendants that were made from reclaimed pendant watches that had quit working. I turned them into small Fae worlds that can be worn.
The first is made from a pendant watch that didn't work and that had a broken crystal. I gutted the watch and then installed a trio of wee 'Shrooms and a ladybug.
The second pendant is made from a pendant watch that had a cover (like a locket). The crystal was still intact on this pendant and when the cover is opened, it appears that you are looking into a wee terrarium complete with a set of red 'Shrooms, a ladybug and a dragonfly.

Mandrake
Mandragora Americanus
“MANDRAKE”
Mandragora Americanus, commonly known as American Mandrake, is found throughout the Americas. It can be found in the deeper recesses of forests and woodlands, most commonly near Faerie Rings. The species found in warmer climates can grow to a height of approx. three feet and is known for its vigorous habits. The species found in colder climates will only grow to twelve or eighteen inches in height and will become dormant during winter months.
Mandrake is endowed with mysterious powers against demoniacal possession. The Mandrake can be poisonous if ingested in large amounts. Only those experienced in the preparation and dosing of mandrake should administer!
Your potted Mandrake will like filtered light and sparse feeding and watering. DO NOT RE-POT! Transplanting MUST only be done by an expert. No matter how much your Mandrake protests, it will be fine in the pot it is in for many years to come! If given ample room for their roots, Mandrake plants have been known to RUN!
This Mandrake is currently at auction on eBay. Click Here to go to the auction!

Of Paint, Pixies and Epiphanies ~ Part 2
As I rambled on about in the last post, prepping the house for sale and mundane daily chores have been consuming most of my time and I have been away from my creative corner
for far too long .......
for far too long .......
In fact my corner has become overwhelmed with plants and things that need to be organized and integrated into my studio supplies - which happen to all be packed! You see, my studio used to be upstairs, but I relocated it downstairs several winters ago because it was easier to keep tabs on the dogs, the cats, Hubby..... I left the majority of my supplies upstairs and would just 'run up' and get whatever I needed. When I started packing, I figured I would go ahead and pack up everything that was still upstairs to get ahead of the curve (so to speak...).
Well, now I am wanting to get back into the creative mode and need some of those supplies. {So much for planning ahead!} So I guess I will carry the boxes downstairs and reorganize my creative corner.
And I am doing this because there are some Faeries that are screaming to be let out! They have been trapped in my sketchbook for quite some time now and they are threatening a revolt if I don't let them come into existence! Oh My!!
What Persistent Pixies they are!
And because I have had Faery (and houses) on the brain of late, our weekly Sunday Art visits this month will be to Fairytale Houses, Furniture for those houses, and even some cool Garden adornments for those Fairytale Gardens.
* * * * * * * * * * * * *
I have a mouse in my kitchen! In a household with 6 cats, I have a mouse!
I sat the gang down (okay, half the gang - you know how hard it is to get employees to attend those company meetings! I shoulda promised 'em some tuna!)
and had a talk with them about responsibilities, job descriptions, and such. Unfortunately the meeting kinda dragged on and some of the attendees fell asleep!
Epiphany #2
Stay tuned for the next post. I really will talk about Winter this time and pass on our plans for the future.

I just realized that this guy, who has been hanging on my kitchen wall for the last 4 years, is Krampus! DUH!
Stay tuned for the next post. I really will talk about Winter this time and pass on our plans for the future.

One of my latest creations is EEK!
This little JOL is quite surprised to see the spider hanging off of his stem. Poor guy!
He is currently available in my Etsy Shoppe.
