Betty Ford Alpine Gardens.

The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is located in the town of Vail at an elevation of 8,250 ft. It is the highest botanical garden in the United States and is recognized as the foremost authority on high-altitude plants.

The Gardens' plant collection showcases more than 3000 plant species of high-altitude plants. And to a Nature Lover like myself, this was a walk through paradise!

Gorgeous photos, and there are my beloved lupins!

Did you have trouble breathing that high?

I was raised at an altitude of 7800ft in southern Colorado, so being at higher altitudes doesn't bother me - even after living at sea level for 10 years. But many people who come from lower elevations do have trouble with high altitude sickness. It is always recommended to acclimate in Denver (5280ft) for a couple days before heading up into the mountains.
