Cat Tales ~ Cat's Best Friends

Since Mommy is busy taking care of Daddy, Mommy has ask Me to take care of the blog for her.

Blogging is so easy now with her new swipey screen 'puter. Me loves it! Just don't tell Mommy Me has been looking at Catnip sites! Of course, it is merely for research purposes....
Anymews....on to today's topic. Cat's Best Friends.
Me read an article that said Cats are the World's most popular pet. (Of Course! Me thought that was obvious!) The article also said that although Cats took to living with Humans as far back as 9,000 years ago, Cats have remained fairly wild. We Cats still retain many of the same traits that are possessed by our wild cousins. While Dog have evolved into a tail-wagging, slobbering mess that is highly dependent on Humans for their survival.
Cats learned Humans could give a lot for just a little in return (a warm bed in the winter, food scraps, and a cuddle when so needed in exchange for rodent catching - considered a sport by many.)
Now Who tamed Who?

Cat Tales ~ 2013 Tails of the Painted Cats

Every year a local feline shelter has a benefit fundraiser called Tails of the Painted Cats.  Fiberglass cats are creatively painted by local artists and then auctioned off, with the money collected going to help support the efforts of the shelter. This shelter is called the Cat Care Society , The Best Little Cat House in the West.

Me read about it in the newspaper. Me then had Mommy find pictures of the Painted Cats on the interwebs. Here's Me's favorites....

Gray-dient
Me thinks this is a very nice Cat representation
Sebastian the Steampunk Messenger Cat
Me thinks this Cat has quite the sense of adventure
Japanese Tea Kitty
Me wonders if she serves milk with the tea
Cheshire Cat
Quite the smurk on that Fellow!
Cat Ballou
That Cat looks just a bit too happy!
Celeste, Celestial Cat of the Heavens
Me's wondering how long it took to get those dreads?

Cat Tales ~ Pet Food Stamps

Mommy was reading the Sunday paper yesterday when she found an article that she HAD to read to me! It was about a program that has been started to help out-of-work or low income people feed the four-footed members of their family.

Pet Food Stamps is a New York based non-profit that helps pet owners with food for their pets. And We all know how important Us furry kids are to people. Especially when Our Humans are going though tough times. We are able to give the love and companionship that is often missing from so many people's lives.

There are over 50 million Americans who currently receive Food Stamp assistance and many of those people have cats or dogs. All too often the cherished family pet must be surrendered to a shelter because the money is not there to buy pet food.

The Pet Food Stamp program, thanks to the generosity of contributors and patrons, is able  to eliminate that heart-wrenching decision by making sure pet owners are given free monthly home delivery of all necessary food supplies to maintain the health and vitality of their pets.

Please visit the website to learn more, apply for food stamps or make a donation. And if you know of someone who may need help, please refer them to the website.  Click Here!

Black Cats on Parade

I admit it! I'm a Halloween Junkie and a BIG Cat Fan! We won't discuss how many cats currently have the pleasure of living in my house (my Fav will soon have a post about him!). But I'm straying from the subject...

My two latest creations are Black Cat Parade Staffs. The first is a whimsical fellow with a party hat and the other is a scary cat with a fierce roar .

Both of these cute kitties are currently listed on eBay.
