A Fairy Census

It's been awhile since I posted about our Little Friends. But then, I think they are hibernating in these parts. I have heard rumors (via the Kitties, so who knows how true those rumors are!) that they are planning a development in the Spring.

Back to the subject at hand....

There has been a Fairy census taken (wonder if my Little Friends took part?). The results can be read here! Or for questions answered or more information, go to The Fairyist.

Or to read abut the results of the census and other musings, go to Malcom's Musings.

A great source of information about those Little People can be found at this blog,  Living Liminally . In fact the writer of that blog released a book last year and has another scheduled to come out this year. And currently she is writing about Fairy Taboos to enable us humans to better understand and live side by side with them.

Upcoming Events & New Venues

October is finally here. The one month out of the year that us Halloween-lovers all look forward to. The month we plan for all year long. The month where bats, and ghosts, and grinning Jacks (short for jack-o-lanterns) adorn all the houses instead of just a few. (WHAT?!?  You don't keep your bats and ghosts and grinning Jacks out all year long??)

And with October comes a flurry of activity. So many wonderful festivals and balls and other events to attend. To start the month, I will be a vendor at the Denver Pagan Pride Festival on October 12th in Denver's Civic Center Park.

And to end the month I will be a vendor at the Denver Witches' Ball on November 2nd.

And my artistic creations can now be found at the Shops at the Silver Mine in Cripple Creek. Shops at the Silver Mine is a charming collective of Colorado artists and craftsmen.

If you're in search of that unique something to add to your collection, stop by Clifton's Curios and Antiques Mall in Colorado Springs. I can vouch to the uniqueness of some of the items - Hubby and I are downsizing and our excess can be found for sale there. Along with some of my folk art.

With all the activity this month, I'm not sure how many road-trips we'll be going on. But I will share our trip to the mountains from last month. And there is one event we're definitely planning on attending - the Coffin Races held in Manitou Springs every October!
So until next time..... Happy Haunting!

Fairy Thoughts...

The Festival of Faerie was F*U*N!!!!

Add caption

I was so busy in my booth that I didn't have much of a chance to wander and watch. Fortunately my daughter was the official photographer (Pixie Press) for the festival and so I lived it through her eyes and the lens of her camera.

My attire for these types of events is a work in progress. My persona is the Witch of the WildWoods. I have not found my name yet. I am Elven-ish so wings will not be a needed item. But I experienced Wing envy at the Festival. OH MY! There were some gorgeous wings!

But I still don't want wings, they are just too cumbersome when working in a booth.

One day I will have as complete an outfit as some of these Faeries.

The Bubbles...
Columbine the Fairy was the wonder behind them. She has the record for the largest soap bubble created in the state.

She has two dowels between which is strung a net made of cotton rope which creates the multiple bubbles.

To create the large bubbles, the cotton rope is in a large loop which is attached to two dowels only at the top of the loop. She also uses her own recipe of bubble mix. Here is a link to Columbine's website.

As my grand-daughter said, "I want to live here..."

Festival of Faerie

Last year was the inaugural year for the Festival of Faerie in Lafayette, Colorado. It was so much fun to see and interact with the Fae Folk! And I am pleased to announce that this year should be even better! I am helping with the organization of the Festival this year. I'm super stoked to be able to put to use the skills I gleaned from my years of work with The International Rice Festival.
This year's event will take place on June 22, 2013. I am planning on being a vendor again this year. And there are still a few vendor spots available. If interested, send an email to festivaloffaerie@gmail.com.

Bayou La Fae

Living in a metro area has it's advantages. One of these is having a multitude of thrift stores to comb through. And in my wanderings, I have begun acquiring old run-down (bird) houses that can be re-made into houses for the Fae. The creation below is one of those.

I also keep my eyes peeled for small animal figures or any item that can be re-purposed into furniture or other household items for the Wee Folk.

This is Bayou La Fae. It will be for sale at my booth at the Elizabeth Celtic Festival this weekend.

Fairies in the WildWoods

The Fairies here in the WildWoods live in trees. Making them a house would have been impractical because I'm afraid it would've sat empty. And what brought this on you ask?? A friend recently ask me if I had ever made a Fairy House after viewing several of the Fairy Doors I make. And the February challenge for the Year-Of-Enchantment Swap I am in, was to make a Fairy House. So......

I made a Gazebo for all the Fairies! And it seems that it didn't take long before someone came along to enjoy it!

A Long Overdo Report

I have been remiss, Dear Readers. I have not kept you up to speed on my Neighbors. (And who doesn't like to see what the neighbors are up to? Go ahead. Admit it. We've all peered over the fence or peeked out the window to see what was up at the House Next Door... )

If you'll remember, back in January, I had taken some cookies over to my New Neighbors as a way to say, 'Welcome, Glad to meet you!' Well, they haven't kept my plate all this time! I had come home about two weeks later (yes, I think it was around Valentine's Day...) and found my plate sitting on the settee table with a lovely note on it.

It was hand written on the most lovely parchment paper. The author of the note thanked me for the tasty treats and wished I would share the recipe. (Do they not have chocolate chips at the Fairy Stores?) And the note went on to say that they hoped that their Cat, Kallie, was not being a nuisance. (If they only knew how she was making herself at home .... Thanks in part to Gomez!)

I have heard a lot of commotion over at their place recently. I imagine they are doing some cleaning and 'sprucing up' - what with the nice weather and all. I will try and get over there this week (weather permitting) and introduce myself. Perhaps I will take more cookies.....

New Listings & a New Shop

Spring must be coming because Mushrooms have been sprouting up everywhere! And these aren't just any Mushrooms, they are Magic Mushrooms that the Fae Folk have turned into houses. Complete with chimneys!

I have a set of five Magic Mushrooms currently listed on eBay along with two Fairy Doors - The Crypt II and Noel. Check 'em out!

I also want to tell you about my new shop. It is on Artfire, which is a new online marketplace for handmade products designed by artisans around the world.

It is fairly new and seems to have a lot of potential. And I'm excited about being there. I also have Magic Mushrooms in my Artfire shop. I am selling them individually there.

Until next time....... Happy Haunting!
