Melting Shadows

Well here is the new look. And a new name.
If you have this blog listed on your website and/or blog, please make note of the name change. Thanks!
I have wandered down another path.
I have begun writing more seriously. I am actually getting paid for articles, albeit peanuts, but it is pay. I have steered away from the art which once was my creative outlet. I still dabble but not to the extent I did. There is a reason for the term, "Starving Artist". Most artists don't make enough to live off of and I was one of those. So I am channeling my creative outlet in other ways. Hopefully ways in which I will make money. (trying real hard to pay off bills and finish construction on our little abode)
This blog will still have posts about odd and unusual things, the occasional post from Gomez, and thoughts on the esoteric. But the Sunday art feature will be no more.
I do hope you'll stick around. One never knows where the path will lead. Or what the Shadows will do.

The Land of Melting Shadows ~ Crow Faery

There be a portal not far from the edge of reality...
A place filled with Ecstasy and Effervescence.  Treacheries and Torments.  A place that is neither here nor there.  But simply is.
This is the B'Tween.

This mystical place is a crossing.  A crossing from one reality to another.  From one frame of reference to another state of confusion.  A dangerous place for the unsuspecting and those who dare to venture forth.

The realm of the B'Tween is the home of the Crow Faery. This tribe of Wee Folk are the Protectors of the Light and Keepers of the Dark. They maintain the Balance of the crossing.

Crow Faeries carry the Light of Essence on a staff to keep the Shadows in balance. To keep the lurid gloom of night from swallowing the shining auroral stars.

They hide their faces behind the masks of impartiality. For they are destined to live a life of judge and jury, friend as well as foe.

Though the Crow Faeries live a self-imposed existence separate from other Fae, they as a tribe are quite social. Their raucous family gatherings can often be heard deep in the Wythern Woodes. The Families are very close-knit with several generations living together.
Young Crow Faeries are trained in maintaining the balance of the B'Tween. But before they are entrusted with Guardian duties, young Crow Faeries must first spend several years acting as messengers. You may have seen (or heard) them on occasion.

*This Crow Faery will soon be released for sale.*

The Land of Melting Shadow ~ The *Snow* Faery

Far across the Valley of Veils rise the Pernicious Mountains. Their slopes wear a shroud of fog on the best of days. And on the worst, well, let's just say a person had best have a light about their person!
The trails are sly, steep and treacherous. The summits have seldom been seen. Especially by those of the mortal persuasion.

Rumors can be heard of strange and remarkable beings living in the Pernicious Mountains. One of these beings is the *Snow* Faery, a spritely sort of Fae.

The *Snow* Faeries make their nests amongst the crags high atop the steep mountain tops. These Fae are the source of the *Snow* which falls during the Season of Darkness. Though how they make it happen, no one knows for sure.

Legend has it that the fluttering of their wings create ice crystals which tumble down as snowflakes. All through the Season of Darkness these Faeries fly and frolic through the skies, sprinkling snowflakes over all the land.

When the air currents shift out of the South, the *Snow* Faeries return to their well insulated nests to slumber deeply during the Season of Light. Only a few *Snow* Faeries remain awake to stand guard over the troop. On the rare day when the summit of Mount Odius is clear of its gray shroud, a person might catch a glimpse of these Fae cavorting about on the thermals.

*Snow* Faery ear

Only will the *Snow* Faeries awake when once again the air currents shift out of the North.

This frolicking *Snow* Faery is available for purchase and can now be found in my Etsy shop.  Click here!

*This post is dedicated to my friend Suzie.  *

The Land of Melting Shadows ~ In the Beginning

I'd like to tell you a tale.  So pull up a toadstool or sit by me here on the grass.  Take your shoes off and get comfy.
There.  Are you ready?

Once Upon a Time.......

Oh.  no.   Wait!

Every ordinary fairy tale starts like that.
And this is no ordinary fairy tale.
So, let’s begin again, shall we?

There once was a Land, no further away than your imagination.

A Land where the Trees’ whispers can be heard on the wind. And the Squirrels chitter and chatter as they scamper to and fro amongst their branches - playing their endless game of tag.

A Land where the Brooks babble endlessly amid fern covered banks. Fish and Tadpoles play a game of Leapfrog in the clear, cool water and Turtles sunbathe nearby.

A Land where the tall Grasses sway in the breeze as if dancing to a distant tune. Wild flowers wave their petals at the busy Bees who fly by. Beckoning to them. Enticing them.

A Land where the Deer graze peacefully in the lush, green valleys. A Land where the Birds and the Faeries gather in the bushes of an evening to share the day's gossip. And the Frog serenade, with cricket accompani-ment, continues well into the night.

A land where the morning sun melts the night into the shadows of the day.  And at sunset the shadows melt into night.
But there are times when the shadows melt into things best left to the dark recesses of one’s imagination.

A Land of Melting Shadows.
