Mandrake

Mandragora Americanus

“MANDRAKE”

Mandragora Americanus, commonly known as American Mandrake, is found throughout the Americas. It can be found in the deeper recesses of forests and woodlands, most commonly near Faerie Rings. The species found in warmer climates can grow to a height of approx. three feet and is known for its vigorous habits. The species found in colder climates will only grow to twelve or eighteen inches in height and will become dormant during winter months.

Mandrake is endowed with mysterious powers against demoniacal possession. The Mandrake can be poisonous if ingested in large amounts. Only those experienced in the preparation and dosing of mandrake should administer!

Your potted Mandrake will like filtered light and sparse feeding and watering. DO  NOT  RE-POT!  Transplanting MUST only be done by an expert. No matter how much your Mandrake protests, it will be fine in the pot it is in for many years to come! If given ample room for their roots, Mandrake plants have been known to RUN!

This Mandrake is currently at auction on eBay. Click Here to go to the auction!

Witch Hats for Sale!

I have recently finished a few Witch Hats. Four to be exact. Each with a different color band of satin ribbon and tulle fabric. These Hats would look good in a display year round. The ribbon and tulle is gathered in spots with metal stars. The display stand has a crackle glaze which has then been sealed. The Witch Hat has been permanently attached to the stand. It stands approx. 9" tall.

I have a Witch Hat with a red band for sale here on my blog - just look in the upper left hand corner. I also have a Witch hat with an orange band and an orange rose for sale in my Etsy Shop. And the purple hat is for sale on eBay.

Christmas???

I know, the mere word brings to mind images of sugarplums and candy canes and hot cocoa. (Almost enough to make a person shudder. 'Cause really, there's nothing like Candy Corn!)

But I'm getting off track. My Prim and Whimsy Girls Art Group is having a Group Challenge from November 2-8. The theme is, "A Caroling We Go". Type in PWGL Christmas in the eBay listing search and see all the wonderful things that pop-up.

Peek-a-Boo Kitty

As I continue to explore the world of sculpting, my creations seem to take shape easier. My two latest are part of a series entitled, "Peek-a-Boo Kitty". A little kitty cat is peeking out of a jack-o-lantern in each of the sculptures. They were fun to make and I'm sure the CAT is glad I finally finished them and he could take off his Party Hat! (He's not real fond of modeling) Now CAT can get back to what he does best - leading the puppies astray (for more on that, check out the blog View From the Floor).

HAGS Theme of the week

The art theme for the week of October 12-18 is Trick-or-Treat, What's your Favorite Halloween Candy.

That's an easy answer! CANDY CORN!

And to represent this theme I have created a Fairy Door entitled Trick-or-Treat. A little ghost is going on his rounds in Fairyland getting his treats. Wonder if he has any chocolate in his bag??

I have also created some candy pockets to fill with treats to give to those little ghosts and goblins that come knockin' on your door on Halloween.

Both items are at auction on eBay.

Happy Haunting!
