Weird Wednesday ~ Cobweb Clothing

Zheng Xianwen, a known television broadcaster and TV journalist, has made a shawl out of real spider webs. Xianwen used 300 spider webs to complete his shawl which honors ancient cultural traditions of the Kucong Tribe in China.

As a senior reporter of the Simao Television, a local TV broadcaster in southwestern part of Yunnan, Zheng Xianwen has also developed a longstanding interest in the life and culture of Kucong tribe, an ethnic minority neighboring his region in the province. According to Zheng, Kucong people were so poor in the past and their clothes were mostly made of cobwebs and banana trees leaves. However, such techniques are on the brink of extinction nowadays as making cobweb clothes is barely seen around anymore. Even younger Kucong people don’t even know about the existence of the once popular special clothes among their ancestor.
Zheng once worked in the region in the 1960′s and bore a strong sense of keeping the rare techniques of cobweb clothing making handed down. According to the amateur collector, his only collection of spiderweb clothing made of 300 cobwebs took him two days to finish during his designed trip to the Kucong tribe last November. In addition to the cobweb clothes, Zheng has also collected many living tools once used by the ethnic tribe. Zheng has not let anyone in on the ancient clothing-making secrets.

Weird Wednesday ~ UFO's over Colorado

Recent UFO's in the Colorado News .......

Close Call at 8,000ft. over Denver

An unidentified flying object reported in the Denver area last week did not appear on radar, but nearly collided with a private jet at 8,000 feet above Cherry Creek.
In an audio recording from the jet cockpit, a pilot can be heard telling air traffic officials, "[I] don't know if it was a remote controlled aircraft or what, but something just went by the other way. About 20-30 seconds ago... And it was like a large remote controlled aircraft.
The corporate jet, a Cessna Citation 525 CJ1, was flying at 8,000 feet above sea level over Cherry Creek when the mystery object came close enough to make any pilot nervous.
Former NTSB Investigator and 9NEWS Aviation Analyst Greg Feith listened to the air traffic recordings and believes the object could be one of three things:
- A military or law enforcement drone.
- A remote controlled aircraft.
- A large bird.
"Was this an unmanned vehicle that was part of some sort of law enforcement operation? Was this somebody that had flown a large model aircraft inadvertently into the airspace? Or was it just [a bird that] caught the pilot's eye so he believed it was an aircraft but could have been a very large wing span bird," Feith said.

Mystery Lights over Lafayette
In March 2011 three red lights in a triangle were spotted hovering in the sky by several Lafayette residents Monday around 8:30 p.m. The sky was clear, but witnesses could not see anything connecting the lights.
The lights made no noise and seemed to hover in the sky while moving slowly from southwest to southeast. They didn't blink. The lights remained in a triangular shape, but the type of triangle changed from equilateral to isosceles to scalene.
Then, the triangle began moving toward the northeast sky when one light extinguished, or zoomed away. The remaining two lights "just turned off and were gone Denver International Airport officials declined to comment on the sighting. But Allen Kenitzer, the Federal Aviation Administration's spokesman for the Rocky Mountain region, said his staff didn't see anything out of the ordinary Monday night.

Weird Wednesday ~ Mistpouffers

Mistpouffers are unexplained reports that sound like a cannon or a sonic boom.  While Mistpouffers have been heard in many waterfront communities around the world, they have also been reported in many inland areas throughout the world.

Possible explanations for Mistpouffers are:
  • Meteors entering the atmosphere.
  • Gas:
    • Gas escaping from vents in the Earth's surface.
    • With lakes, natural gas from decaying vegetation trapped beneath the lake bottoms suddenly bursting forth.
    • Explosive release of less volatile gases generated as limestone decays in underwater caves.
  • Military aircraft (though it cannot explain occurrences of the phenomenon which predate supersonic flight).
  • In some cases, they have been associated with earthquakes.
  • A recent explanation is that the noise is very distant thunder which has been focused anomalously as it traveled through the upper atmosphere.
  • Underwater caves collapsing, and the air rapidly rising to the surface.
  • Firearms being discharged.
  • Possible resonance from solar and/or earth magnetic activity inducing sounds.

But strange Earth sounds aren't limited to boom-like noises. These noises can also come in the form of hums, bloops, low frequency sounds recorded underwater (these low frequency noises do not sound like any known sea creature) , human-like screams emanating from deep holes in the Earth and even odd radio signals have been detected in outer space.

***  I, personally, have not had any experiences with odd Earth noises but when I lived in Arkansas, numerous people who lived about 15 miles to the southeast of us (as the Crow flies) reported hearing/feeling loud booming noises - much like that a cannon would make. The source of these noises remains a mystery.
