Halloween Trivia
1. Black and Orange are typical Halloween colors. Orange is a symbol of strength and endurance as well as a color of the Harvest. Black is typically a symbol of death and darkness and reminds us that Hallowe'en is a festival that marks the boundary between Life and Death.
2. According to legend, if you see a spider on Hallowe'en, it's actually the spirit of a loved one watching over you.
3. It's actually very rare for a full moon to occur on Hallowe'en. Although, it's predicted to occur on 10/31/2020
4. The word 'witch' comes from the Olde English wicce, meaning wise woman.
5. The first mention of trick-or-treating in print in North America occurred in 1927 in Blackie, Alberta, Canada
6. In the UK white cats are thought to bring bad luck
7. Got leftover candy? Hard candy lasts for a year, while chocolate can last up to two years.
8. Barmbrack used to be a traditional food eaten on Halloween. The bread contained objects baked into it and was used as a sort of fortune-telling game.
9. Boston, MA holds the record for the most Jack O'Lanterns lit at once - 30, 128.
10. During Samhain, bones of cattle were thrown into the lit fires - hence the name bone-fire became bonfire.

Upcoming Events & New Venues
October is finally here. The one month out of the year that us Halloween-lovers all look forward to. The month we plan for all year long. The month where bats, and ghosts, and grinning Jacks (short for jack-o-lanterns) adorn all the houses instead of just a few. (WHAT?!? You don't keep your bats and ghosts and grinning Jacks out all year long??)
And with October comes a flurry of activity. So many wonderful festivals and balls and other events to attend. To start the month, I will be a vendor at the Denver Pagan Pride Festival on October 12th in Denver's Civic Center Park.
And my artistic creations can now be found at the Shops at the Silver Mine in Cripple Creek. Shops at the Silver Mine is a charming collective of Colorado artists and craftsmen.
If you're in search of that unique something to add to your collection, stop by Clifton's Curios and Antiques Mall in Colorado Springs. I can vouch to the uniqueness of some of the items - Hubby and I are downsizing and our excess can be found for sale there. Along with some of my folk art.
With all the activity this month, I'm not sure how many road-trips we'll be going on. But I will share our trip to the mountains from last month. And there is one event we're definitely planning on attending - the Coffin Races held in Manitou Springs every October!
So until next time..... Happy Haunting!

Cat Tales ~ St. Paws
Recently Mommy had a pile of unwanted items that she wanted to donate to a thrift store. But she wanted a thrift store that supported local animal shelters. She looked and looked and she finally found one. St. Paws.
You may not have a St. Paws where you are, but Me's sure you have a local animal shelter or rescue organization. Please support them any way you can - your help will be greatly appreciated!
