Weird Wednesday ~ Weird Cat Facts


Goliath
  • A Cat cannot see directly under its nose.
  • The nose pad of a Cat is ridged in a pattern that is unique, just like the fingerprints of humans.
  • Cats have a weak sense of taste - they have only 473 tastebuds while humans have 9,000.
  • Egyptians shaved their eyebrows as a sign of mourning when they lost a beloved Cat.
  • Cats have 32 muscles in each ear.
  • The average house Cat spends approx. 10,950 hours purring in a lifetime.
  • A group of Kittens is called a Kindle. (Bet you thought it was an electronic device used to read e-books!)

    Those are great facts - I had no idea about the individual nose print! I wonder if I can nose print my cats... it'd be a fun thing to put in my scrapbook. ;-)

    P.S. Don't tell Gomez because I don't want to cause a scene, but Goliath is one handsome fellow! I love ginger cats in the worst way. :)

    An informative post...no idea about most of this info. I can certainly believe the fact about the cat ears; those ears are always moving like radar. Have you seen the blog, Itty Bitty Kitty Committee? I am obsessed with it lately.

    Excellent stuff! Yes, and did you know a group of cats is called a cowder and a female cat is either a queen or a molly?
