The Meaning of Bees ~ Input Please!

Bees have become a companion of mine lately. I seem to always have one or more flying around me, landing on me, or just sometimes being a general nuisance (there little feet tickle the back of my neck). These are honey bees that seem to be craving my attention - not Bumble Bees or Sweat Bees but Honey Bees. {Hubby says it's because I'm so sweet! He must be buttering me up for something!}
I have been doing a fair amount of work outside, packing up the garage and other shop buildings, and bees always seem to find me, doesn't matter if it is early morning or late afternoon.  I am wondering if this is an omen, a message perhaps?  Hubby even reported that he thinks there is a ground nest of bees at the new house. Hhhmmmmm....... What are these little guys trying to tell me??

  1. Maybe you are supposed to be a bee keeper ?? I have the same with bees, but I know several of my ancestors were great bee keepers, so maybe I inherated the bee keepers gene ; ) Maybe that is the same in your case ??? I do know you can talk to bees. Bee keepers always let them know when something has happened in their home. A death in the home is always mentioned to the bees by knocking on the hive and telling them the name of the person who died. That is the only thing I know about it. I hope someone else can help you !!
    Have a magical day.

  2. I will tell you who knows about bees, is Danni at Whimsical Cottage blog. She has been having the same experiences with bees. I think it could be that Bee is wanting you to notice him for a reason, sending you a message. Definitely pursue this. Sounds quite exciting actually!!

  3. Jeanne, those bees are telling you to slow down and savor the sweetness in life. .that you are working too hard right now, focusing all of your energies on "what must be done". .that you are carrying the weight of so many things all by yourself, and that it is better for you to share the work load, as the bees do.

In some religions, bees are considered messengers from the Gods, and are telling the person to slow down, because it is only when they are in a peaceful state, can they receive the message that the Spirits are trying to convey.

I know what you are going to say. .that others are helping out too. .but knowing you, you are carrying enough worry for a million families! When was the last time you created a Faerie? I haven't seen one in a loooong time. Take it from one who knows, once that creative spark is tamped down, it takes forever to get it light again. And while it gets easier to ignore it, and harder to fight through that block, there is still a part of you that gets increasingly restless. That only adds to your stresses. .so pay attention to the bees. Stop, relax, and then go haul out some paper clay. It is time to play!

    Hugs & love!!

  4. Bees are very ancient symbols of the Divine Feminine. They live in matriarchal societies ruled by a Queen. Bees are almost always female. They keep a few males around for reproduction purposes but all worker bees are female. In ancient times, priestesses of the Goddess were called "melissae" or "honeybees." Perhaps the Divine Feminine is calling you?

  5. My Grammy used to tell me that this was a sign of impending wealth...if that was true, I would be rich by now!

I was going to say that it was because you are sweet but your husband said it first!

    Love,

  6. Ya know bee keeping has become really common in our neighborhood. We have several skeps within our little block. I too have noticed them all about this year. Do you have lots of bee loving flowers? Maybe you need to have a hive next year? Maybe they are just thanking you for all your outside hard work..cause it helps them survive! Hmmmm...I love that hon..good luck!
    Hugs, Sarah

  7. Thank you everyone for your input. :0) I must delve deeper .....

Moncha, How awesome that you had great beekeepers in your family!

Robin, I shall pay Danni a visit...

Suzie, While I would just love to be able to sit down and create right now, I'm afraid that time is not on my side. We are moving in 3 wks And I need to have everything packed and ready to load when Hubby & Sons arrive with moving trucks. I am still feeding the muse by sketching in the evenings. :0)

Debra, I was kinda thinking this but not real sure what She is trying to tell me...

LuLu, There many different types of wealth. And I have a feeling that your Life is filled with Good Friends and Good Times - a wealth unto itself!

Sarah, Yes, I have an abundance of Bees in my flowerbeds. Perhaps they are thanking me....

  8. Interesting post. My name, Deborah, means "The Bee". In addition to what the others have said, Bees are also considered leaders. Perhaps they are guiding, welcoming, leading, you down your new path in life. :-)
    Enjoy the honey of life!

  9. Here's my thoughts Jeanne: Bess are long-time symbols for accomplishing the impossible. If a bee shows up in your life, examine your own personal productivity. Are you busy enough? Are you doing what you need to do to increase the fertility of your life? Are you taking time to savor life (honey) or are you a workaholic? Doing too much? Are you taking the time to actually enjoy the the labor/activities you find yourself in? Bee reminds us that activities are much more productive and "sweeter" if you are taking the time to actually enjoy them. (Not that moving and cleaning is necessarily fun, but look to Bee in helping you see the end result!)

Bee reminds us to extract the honey of life and make our lives fertile. No matter how big the dream bee reminds us that there is always a promise of fulfillment but we must pursue it! Bee is the symbol in nature that promises us that before you now is opportunity to drink of the elixir of life (honey) but in order to enjoy we must pursue our dreams!

  10. In many cultures, bees are considered to be messengers from the Gods and spirit realms. They are unique creatures who are capable of floating between two planes; the air and the earth and the here and the Otherworld. When the bees (mostly Bumble) want my attentions they will land on me, bump gently into the window of the room I'm sitting in or buzz back and forth by me several times until I pay them heed. They usually do these things more often when something is either coming my way that I need to be prepared for, I've been feeling lethargic and unproductive or I've been feeling very frazzled and stressed out. So, in their way, they send me messages.

What exactly their message is to you would depend upon your situation. Take note of what you're doing or thinking about when they come to visit and see if there is a pattern. Or, as crazy as it may sound, just ask them what it is they'd like you to know and perhaps it will come to you in a flash of a daydream or while you sleep.

Most often, as others have said, Bees carry the lessons of savoring the sweetness of life and accomplishment with them. They are a species that strives very strongly on their 'family' and are a very strong feminine symbol. Perhaps they are buzzing about to tell you that things will be brighter from here on out and soon you and your family will be able to savor the fruits of your hard work and put the past few years trials behind you. Or perhaps, since you have been the witch of the wild wood for some time, they are simply coming out to wish you good luck and farewell.

P.S. While their feet do tickle, it is considered very lucky to have one land on (or kiss) you!

  12. I agree with hubby, definitely because you're sweet :) Or maybe you're like the bee saviour or something; honey bees have been having a hard time of it lately and no one seems to know why. Maybe they've chosen you to save them! Anyway, be grateful it's pleasant little bees that have chosen to befriend you. Can you imagine if it was wasps! Urgh...
