Back in October, a Blogging friend, wrote a post about what color is a Witch? And it got me thinking...
What is a Witch?
The term WITCH has been used in so many ways to describe so many different types of people. And the meaning has changed and evolved over the centuries.

Is it a lifestyle? Is it a belief?
Is it only a moniker used to describe a person?
How would you define a Witch?
I am a herbalist. Does that make me a Witch?
I am a skilled writer (I know...kinda hard to tell from this blog...) Does that make me a Witch?
I have on occasion been known to be overbearing and spiteful. Does that make me a Witch? (ok - don't answer that one!)
My beliefs are an eclectic mix of Native American spirituality and various Earth-based beliefs. Does that make me a Witch?
To me, A Witch, cannot be described with just one or two words. A Witch has as many facets as a well-cut gem.
To me, being a Witch is more of a mind set.
It is the ability to believe in MAGIC.
The MAGIC you find in a child's laugh or in the song of a bird.
The MAGIC of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
The MAGIC that is found in a snowflake floating to earth or the rustle of leaves in the wind. The MAGIC that can be found in the every day and ordinary.
The MAGIC of joy and wonderment and possibilities.
The MAGIC of our own abilities to make dreams come true.
I believe in such MAGIC. I am a Witch.

Me too! I'm a witch and proud of it. A 13 year old girl was playing with some of the older kids in the neighborhood the other day telling the younger kids that Santa is not real...I could have killed her! My 6 year old said he was sad for her since she would not get any presents since he knew Santa was real!!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I think you hit the nail on the head. I believe in all of the above. I am a witch too! yeah!!!!

ReplyDeleteRobin, I totally agree, Magic is very sacred. It is a gift that not all people are able to enjoy. What a sad life that would be - to have no magic.
ReplyDeleteJoane, I am honored. ♥

ReplyDeleteTo quote one of my favorite movies, Practical Magic..
