Cat Tales ~ Squeaky

This is Squeaky. She's Daddy's 'Baby Girl'.  She showed up when she was quite young and was very skittish around people. It took Daddy a while to convince her that we all meant her no harm. By the time Daddy had her tamed, we discovered that she was going to have babies.

Squeaky wouldn't come inside the house. She lived in the garage.  Daddy kept trying to get her to come live inside but she wouldn't have any of it. As it got closer to the babies arrival, Squeaky made a nice den under one of Daddy's workshops. Every evening, Squeaky would come up to the house to see Daddy and Daddy would tell her to come inside and bring the babies with her. When the babies were about a week old, a terrible storm started brewing. And Squeaky, being the smart Kitty that she is, brought the babies inside the house (we have a Kitty Door in the People door) one by one and hid them behind the couch. Everyone was safe and sound.

Squeaky likes everyone but is bestest friends with Goliath. Me thinks it's because Goliath can keep her warm with all that "fluff" that he has!
P.S. Squeaky has a shoe fetish. She loves to put her feet in shoes. Mommy has threatened to make her a pair of little booties!

Fairy Day ~ Fairy Lights

Welcome! To All of You on this Faery Day!
Josephine over at the blog We Are All Queens has invited me to participate in her Fairy Day Blog Party! Josephine lives in Argentina and her blog is in Spanish but she does have a Google translator which you can use. Josephine's blog is a fun filled stroll and the list of other Fairy Day Blog Party participants are listed on the right hand side of her blog. Please do stop by and say HI and enjoy all the Faery Goodness!

If you are a follower of my blog, then you will know that the Fae are a constant companion for those of us who live here in the WildWoods.  And when Josephine sent me the invitation for the Fairy Day Blog Party, I knew exactly what I would write about. Fee Fo Lais ~ Will-O'-Wisps ~ Faery Lights!

You see, every evening I have been enjoying the light show that is put on by the local fireflies. They are the one thing I am really going to miss when I move from the South. And watching these magickal lights dance among the grasses and trees, a person can't help but see the Fae dancing and cavorting with the Lightning Bugs.

The terms Fee Fo Lais, Will-O'-Wisps, Faery Light or Pixy Light all refer to ghostly lights which can sometimes be seen floating over bogs and marshes. Though, there are reports of them being seen in forests and woods as well. These lights are said to resemble floating lanterns and will recede as a person approaches them.

Folklore about Faery Lights can be found world wide. Many of the tales describe these unexplained lights as leading travelers astray - away from the safe path and into danger. While others describe the lights as lost souls - the souls of people who are in neither heaven nor hell - looking to cause mischief on unsuspecting people. And at one time the term Will-O'-Wisp was synonymous with Jack-O-Lantern.

Science has explained these lights as possibly bioluminescence or even light emissions brought about by the decay of organic matter. Others feel that the white feathers on Barn Owls can reflect the moonlight, causing people to see a 'moving light'.  Personally, I like to believe the lights are the Fae ~ frolicking and cavorting on a warm Summer evening.

A Solstice Blessing & Request

May your past be a pleasant memory,
Your future filled with delight and mystery,
Your now a glorious moment,
That fills your life with deep contentment.

My Daughter and her Family are currently going through a Life changing experience with many extreme challenges lying ahead. Family has rallied around them to give them strength and comfort. But if you could maybe light a candle and send a little good energy their way this Solstice, I would greatly appreciate it. A Mother's Heart aches when a Child (no matter the age) is in distress.

Cat Tales ~ Valentino

Today we are going to meet Cat #4 of the clowder at WildWood Manor.
This is Valentino. He's another Foundling.

Mommy calls him The Great White Hunter. He's really good at hunting and is always catching something - frogs, bunnies, birds. He tries to catch skirrels but theys too quick.

He'll hunt no matter what the weather.  Me thinks he needs a prescription for Medical Catnip so he can 'chill out' {get it? Chill out - and hes sittin in the snow! Me made a funny!!}

Daddy says that Valentino got his downloads mixed up cause Valentino thinks hes a doggie.  He likes to hang around with the hairy crew that live here with us. If Daddy is outside playing with the doggies, then Valentino is there as well.

Valentino thinks he's head honcho around here but that's ME!  And Mommy makes sure Valentino understands Mes the "Big Cheese'.

Cat Tales ~ Me's holding down the fort!

Mommy said Me could go ahead and blog while she is otherwise occupied. And Me had so many things Me wanted to write about - the rising price of Catnip, inadequacies of clay litter, and sun puddle sleeping vs. shade puddle sleeping. But then Me got a brain cramp and couldn't put Me meows to computer. Daddy said it was the STK interface. (Seat To Keyboard interface) Daddy said that Mommy has that problem a lot. Daddy better not say that where Mommy can hear......
So today Me thought Me would just share some cute photos of Me.

Some roadblocks have appeared on this journey called Life.
I'll be back when I can.
